(VOVWORLD) - On the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21, we’re happy to have received lots of heartwarming greetings from listeners around the world.

B: One message came from Vicentiu Daniel Gheorghe, Founder and President of the Romanian VOV Club, who wrote: “I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire staff of VOV, a voice of integrity, professionalism, and inspiration for listeners around the world.”

A: It’s very touching to receive such kind words. Gheorghe mentioned the publication of the first issue of Thanh Nien (Youth) newspaper in 1925 by Nguyen Ai Quoc, who later became President Ho Chi Minh. That event marked the birth of Vietnam's revolutionary press.

B: Gheorghe wrote: “For decades, VOV has continued this noble tradition with excellence and dedication. Your tireless efforts in promoting Vietnam’s culture, development, and international friendship have earned admiration and appreciation across continents. As a long-time listener, I have witnessed how VOV5 brings Vietnam closer to the world through your multilingual broadcasts, accurate reporting, and human stories that reflect the heart of the Vietnamese nation.”

A: Mohamed Elsayed Abd Elraheim of Egypt wrote: “For 8 decades VOV has been more than just a broadcaster. It has been a consistent beacon, sharing Vietnam's rich narrative with the world and fostering invaluable connections that bridge cultures and peoples across continents. My sincere thanks go out for the wonderful contest ‘What do you know about Vietnam?’ which offers an invaluable opportunity for all of us to draw even closer to Vietnam and witness its confident steps forward.”

B: Azam Ali Soomro of Pakistan shared his excitement inlearning more about Vietnamese journalism. He said it was great to learnabout the Vietnam Press Museum, especially the symbolic pen nib on a lotus flower displayed on the first floor, an image that reflects the motto of all Vietnamese journalists: “Sharp pen, pure heart.”

A: Azam said he was also deeply impressed by the 500W loudspeaker that once stood on the north bank of the Ben Hai River in Quang Tri province, broadcasting VOV programs to both sides during the anti-US war.

B: Azam wrote: “VOV has indeed something unique and impressively inspiring. On the very happy occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, I’m sending my congratulations and best wishes to all of you.”

A: Thanks to all our dear listeners for your touching messages of congratulation to VOV’s journalists on this special occasion.

A: Chanthima, a listener in Laos, asked whether there are any songs about Vietnamese journalists for the occasion.

B: Yes, there are many! Each year new songs are written to honor the journalism profession and working journalists. Nguoi Ha Noi (Hanoian) magazine recently held an award ceremony for a contest called“ Journalism – Journalists of the Capital and the Nation 2025.”

A: The year-long contest received 164 poems, 34 songs, and 28 stage scripts depicting journalism from various angles, from physically challenging reporting trips to remote areas to the ethical challenge of upholding a commitment to accurate, truthful reporting.

B: VOV’s journalists, many of whom are talented poets, writers, or musicians, have contributed a number of works about the journalism profession. One standout piece is “Bai ca nguoi lam bao” (Song of journalists), a powerful and emotional song with lyricsby our former President Vu Van Hien and music by renowned musician Do Hong Quan.

A: The song embodies the pride and dedication of generations of VOV journalists. It honors the legacy of Vietnam’s national radio broadcaster and serves as a musical symbol of unity, resilience, and cultural pride. It’s often performed at important events like the Voice of Vietnam’s anniversary or Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

A: VOVWorld’s former Director Dao Dinh Tuan wrote a song about VOV’s overseas service called “Our voices”, with which the VOVWorld staff won several singing contests. We’re proud to sing about our noble profession and our dedication to it.

A: Last week we continued to receive entries for the “What do you know about Vietnam?” contest, including entries from members of the Jinnah DX Club in Pakistan. We received numerous submissions earlier from the New Horizon Radio Listeners’ Club – an India-Vietnam Friendship Club in West Bengal – along with entries from the VOV Bangladesh Hub-VOV Spectator's Association and the International DX Radio Listeners Club of India.

B: It’s wonderful to see such enthusiastic participation by radio clubs across the region. These entries show your passion for Vietnam and highlight the strong bonds of friendship between our countries.

A: We’re grateful for your continued interest in learning more about Vietnam’s culture, history, and people. We hope you win a trip to Vietnam and a prize for the Listeners Club with the most entries. Keep the entries coming. We’re excited to read more.

A: We’d like to welcome to VOV Michael J. Redmond of Italy, who told us that, since he discovered VOV, he has been enjoying learning about the culture and history of Vietnam. Michael sent us a reception report for a broadcast on June 13 on the frequency of 11885 kHz, which featured news about the G7 Summit in Canada and its impact on global conflicts and tariffs, followed by a segment on a Vietnamese village famous for blacksmithing.

B: We’re always happy to hear from new listeners like you, Mr. Redmond. It’s encouraging to know that our programs keep reaching new people around the world.

A: We’d like to welcome back British listener Gerry Neumann. It’s been a long time since we last heard from you, Gerry. In a recent message to VOV, Gerry wrote: “I like to keep up to date with what is happening in Vietnam, and of course my best source of information is the daily broadcast of VOV. The news segments not only inform me of domestic political events, like the merger of provinces and the two tiers of local government, but also international events like China's invitation to Vietnam to join the BRICS group, which was mentioned on Monday, June 16.”

B: Thank you, Gerry, for your message and for your continued interest in Vietnam. We’re delighted that you find our coverage relevant and timely, and that it brings back memories of your time living in Vietnam.

A: As you mentioned, our Monday program included a 'Personality of the Week' segment about a female journalist who has been working for the National VOV Travel Channel since 2009. 'Personality of the Week' spotlights individuals from all walks of life who are contributing to Vietnam’s development and cultural preservation.

B: We’re especially happy to know that you enjoy our series “Colorful Vietnam – Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic Groups.” We, too, hope that the traditions, customs, and values of Vietnam’s indigenous ethnic communities will continue to flourish.

A: Richard Lemke of Canada said that, since April, reception has been improving. He especially enjoys the Sunday Show and the Letter Box. He thanked VOVWorld for sending him QSL cards during the first half of the year.

B: Thank you, Gerry, Richard, and all our other listeners, for your kind words of encouragement. Your feedback inspires us to keep trying to create diverse and interesting content. Please keep tuning in and sharing your thoughts with us.

A: Last but not least, don’t forget the deadline for the “What do you know about Vietnam?” contest is just 2 weeks from now on June 30. If you haven’t submitted your entry yet, please send it to us while there’s still time!

B: Good bye until next time.
