(VOVWORLD) -The National Press Festival 2025 opened at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on Thursday, gathering 124 media outlets showcasing their signature publications and programs.

As this year marks 100 years of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day since Vietnam's first revolutionary newspaper, Thanh Nien (Youth), was founded on June 21, 1925 by Nguyen Ai Quoc, who later became President Ho Chi Minh, the Festival has dedicated a central space to showcase "A century of journalism achievements and trends in the new era".

In his opening address, Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Party Central Committee's Communications, Education, and Mass Mobilization Commission, said the press has truly been the voice of the Party and the State, a trusted forum for the People; a firm bridge between the Party's will and the People's hearts; a mirror reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the whole society; and revolutionary journalists are the vanguard on the ideological and cultural front.
He underlined the rapid development of technology that is posing opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's revolutionary press and suggested: “We must take innovation as a driving force and technology as a tool to elevate the Vietnamese press. It’s imperative to boldly innovate from within, innovate thinking in press leadership, innovate the editorial model, methods of content production and distribution, and press-public relations."
"The press needs to strengthen its role in social criticism, protect the Party's ideological foundation, promote great solidarity, create consensus, strongly arouse patriotism and national pride, and aspire to advance firmly into a new era, an era of prosperity, civilization, and growth of the Vietnamese nation,” Nghia added.

At this year's Press Festival, which runs until Saturday, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) booth is exhibiting its electronic photo books and holding mini workshops, storytelling contests, talk shows with MCs, introduction of VOV channels, VOV Coastal Traffic Channel, and music performances.
