115 million COVID-19 infections globally; Australia's border to remain closed

(VOVWORLD) - 115.8 million COVID-19 patients had been reported globally as of Thursday, with 2.5 million deaths, according to worldometers.info. The US, India, and Brazil have been hardest-hit nations.

26,000 cases have been confirmed in Thailand, with 84 deaths.

The Lao National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported no new cases this week. There have been 45 cases in Lao, of which 42 have recovered.

In Cambodia, 10,000 Phnom Penh residents have been quarantined and treated. The number of COVID-19 patients linked to a February 20 community transmission incident is rising.

Australia's border will remain closed for another three months, until June 17, as it begins vaccination.

In Ukraine, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours set a new record of nearly 3,500. Fatalities in Ukraine remains high.
