(VOVWORLD) - 145 outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students and youth will be honored at a ceremony to be held on Friday and Saturday in Hanoi.

At a press briefing on Monday in Hanoi, representatives of the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs said the program aims to recognize and encourage the spirit of perseverance and determination in overcoming difficulties to achieve outstanding and exemplary results in study and participation in social activities among ethnic minority students and youth.
This year, the honorees were selected from 52 ethnic groups across 30 provinces and cities nationwide.

Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet newspaper and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “This is the first time in the 12 editions of the commendation that there are representatives of pupils and students from 52 ethnic groups. Second, this year’s honorees include a new category, top graduates of universities. Third, this year’s ceremony features many pupils, students and youth with outstanding achievements in various fields.”
