46th International Chemistry Olympiad opens in Vietnam

(VOVworld) – The 46th International Chemistry Olympiad opens in Hanoi on Monday. The event has the participation of 75 teams of contestants and 2 teams of observers. The Vietnamese team has 4 contestants and 4 instructors, led by Nguyen Quoc Chinh from the Ho Chi Minh City's National University. Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan said at the opening ceremony that Vietnam has concerted efforts for a successful competition.

Luan said: “It’s a big honor for Vietnam to host this event which reflects the trust of our friends working in chemistry around the world. I believe that the Ministry of Education and Training and the organizing board have created every possible condition for contestants to compete in a fair manner for triumphs and to learn from their peers, contributing to the development of the world chemistry.”

The practice exams will take place at the Hanoi Pedagogical University on Wednesday and the practice exams will be held at the My Dinh National Convention Center 2 days later. The Olympiad will also include cultural and sports activities and trips to several handicraft villages and scenic spots in northern Vietnam.
