(VOVworld) - Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah claimed victory Monday but said the process of forming a national unity government is deadlocked. Abdullah told hundreds of his supporters that the deadlock was caused by the election. Abdullah, a former Afghan foreign minister, said he will continue to defend the rights of the people and their votes and will never accept the fraud-marred election results. Abdullah insisted that he is the winner of the presidential election if genuine votes are separated from fake ones.

Abdullah claimed his victory 2 days before the final results were released by Afghan election officials who recounted more than 8 million ballots under international supervision.
