The Ambassador said that in the past year, both Vietnam and Japan saw changes of key leaders, but their high-level dialogue and exchange activities expanded and deepened in economics-trade-investment, security, human resources, and people-to-people exchanges.

Japanese companies have thrived in the Vietnamese market. Japan has helped Vietnam’s digital transformation by providing equipment to upgrade the National Population Data Center system this year. In addition to emergency support, Japan is working with Vietnamese ministries to provide loans to improve infrastructure in the northern provinces.

Japan wishes to continue win-win cooperation with Vietnam in an era of strong growth, according to Ambassador Ito. “The three areas defined by the Vietnamese Government as key in the near future are transportation infrastructure (including high-speed rail), energy, and digital transformation. Japan has a lot of experience in these areas and is willing to support Vietnam for specific cooperation achievements. Vietnam's economy is predicted to grow even stronger, and this will be an opportunity for Japanese businesses to expand their market in Vietnam."

According to the Japanese Ambassador, the number of Vietnamese trainees accounts for half of foreign workers in Japan and contributes to Japan's socio-economic development. Japan wants to create a better environment for them not only to work but also to have a happy life.
