ASIAD 18: Media praises Vietnam’s first win

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s win against Pakistan was convincing and demonstrated professional skill and experience, the Asian Football Confederation said Tuesday, adding that Vietnam’s participation in the U23 Championship final in January was good preparation for this match.

 

More than 500 Vietnamese athletes are competing in 32 events and hope to earn at least 3 gold medals at this year’s ASIAD.

Indonesian media said they were impressed with Vietnam’s victory and Vietnam could have scored more goals.

The Vietnam U23 football team had an easy 3-0 win against Pakistan despite 2 penalty kicks missed by striker Nguyen Cong Phuong. Head coach Park Hang Seo said he was pleased with the result, because all his players did their best.
