Asia’s new economic order presented by Vietnamese scholar

(VOVworld) – Asian economies are divided into 4 major groups: key powers, emerging economies, newly industrialised economies, and ASEAN economies, according to Professor Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS). In a presentation at a workshop in India on Monday called "New political situation and economic order in Asia”, Thang said China, Japan, India, and the Republic of Korea are key powers and China and India are also emerging economies. He predicted that India will become the 4th largest economy in the world in the next decade, behind the US, China, and Japan. Consequently, India will be getting more involved in Southeast Asia’s security, particularly maritime security, and will retain its influence as part of the power order in the Asia-Pacific region.
