(VOVWORLD) -79 years ago, on August 19, 1945, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people carried out the great August Revolution, smashed the yoke of domination, oppression, and exploitation of the colonial and feudal regimes, seized power, and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
On this occasion, Nhan Dan (People) newspaper ran an article affirming that the victory of the August Revolution proves the correct revolutionary path, wise leadership, strategic vision, and acumen of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh to seize the once-in-a-thousand-year opportunity.
Over the past 79 years, the spirit of the August Revolution, its fruits and invaluable lessons have been a solid foundation for Vietnam to overcome all challenges, winning victory after victory, and writing the history of the brilliant and glorious Ho Chi Minh era.
Vietnam will continue to promote the great values of the August Revolution in the new stage of national development. The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are re-energized with patriotism, national pride, the will for autonomy, self-reliance, solidarity, unity, and determination to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
Titled "August Revolution – an immortal epic", an article of the People's Army newspaper said the August Revolution will endure forever because of its historical significance and stature. It combined the strength, bravery, intelligence, and pride of Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh era under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
