AusAID offers 500,000 AUD to help Mekong Delta flood victims

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) will donate 500,000 AUD to help flood victims in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region. The funds will be channelled through the Vietnam Red Cross Society to help 10,000 households in An Giang, Dong Thap and Long An provinces overcome the aftermath of floods. The victims will be provided with essential household utensils, canvas tents, safe water and water containers, as well as information on the prevention of infectious diseases. They will also be given loans to buy fishing nets and boats, and build storm-proof houses and hygienic toilets.
