(VOVWORLD) - The United States and Australia kicked off high-level talks at the Australia-US Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN) on Tuesday, discussing measures to promote their bilateral relations.

At the meeting, Australia expressed its wish to enhance defense cooperation with the US, which will help to further its cooperation with other countries in the region.
Officials of the two countries also discussed bilateral cooperation in aerospace and satellite technology, technical and cyber security, threat analysis, and advancing clean energy transition and climate resilience, as well as rules-based development of safe, secure, and trustworthy critical technologies.
The two sides discussed regional issues related to the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait (China), and reaffirmed their commitment to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)'s centrality as well as shared concerns in the Indo-Pacific region.
In this meeting, Australia continued to strengthen cooperation with the US in defense and defense technology.
