(VOVworld)-The Committee for the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics has met in HCM city to review the Catholic community’s contributions to national construction and defense over the past 3 years. Reports delivered at Thursday’s conference showed that Catholic followers nationwide donated tens of millions of USD to social welfare activities in 2009 alone. They have also done a great job in poverty reduction, environmental protection and social evil prevention. Priest Phan Khac Tu, the Committee’s Vice Chairman and Secretary General said: “It’s necessary to accelerate communications on Party guidelines and State policies to promote emulation movements. Catholic followers should fulfill their duties, adhering to the Pope’s saying: ‘A good Catholic is a good citizen’”.
