(VOVworld)- Da Nang authorities and the Organizing Committee of the Clipper Race 2015-2016 organized an awards ceremony for the winners of the 7th stage themed “Da Nang – a new discovery in Asia”. The first prize went to the crew of Northern Irish Derry-Londonderry-Doire. Garmin came in second and Great Britain finished third. Da Nang-Vietnam came in sixth in the leg. They will stay in Danang from February 17
th to 27
th before departing for Qingdao, China.

Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung spoke at the awards ceremony: “I hope that the Clipper Race which crosses 14 ports in 6 continents and your experience in Da Nang city will help further promote the image of Da Nang as well as Vietnam’s land and people. Participating in this event, Vietnam hopes to further connect and interact with the rest of the world in the spirit of peace and friendship and expand trade and cultural cooperation with other countries”.
As the world's longest ocean race, the 40,000-nautical mile Clipper Race 2015-2016 is one of the most competitive and challenging sports activities in the world. It started in London on August 30, 2015 and takes 11 months to sail around the world and will return to London on July 31, 2016.
