The total exports of all coconut products amounted to nearly 1.1 billion USD, marking a more than 20% rise from 2023. This is the first time in 14 years that coconuts have generated over 1 billion USD in export revenue for Vietnam.
Vietnam currently has 200,000 hectares of coconut plantations, producing 2 million tons annually. One-third of the cultivation area, primarily in the central region and the Mekong Delta, meets the organic standards according to US and European regulations.
With over 600 companies engaged in production and processing, Vietnam's coconut industry holds a competitive edge in the international market. The country ranks 4th in coconut exports in the Asia-Pacific region and 5th globally.
China is the primary export market, accounting for 25% of Vietnam's coconut export value. Besides China, Vietnamese coconuts, known for their affordable prices and mildly sweet taste, are also available in the European Union (EU), the United States, Canada, and South Korea.
