Prof. Dr. Phan Luong Cam, wife of late PM Vo Van Kiet, dies
(VOVWORLD) - Prof. Dr. Phan Luong Cam, the wife of late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.
Phan Luong Cam was the first female professor and doctorate holder at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and a renowned scientist in electrochemistry and metal corrosion in Vietnam.
She was the founder and director of the Center for Metal Corrosion and Protection Research at Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 1996 until her retirement in 2008. She served as President of the Asia-Pacific Materials and Corrosion Association from 1999 to 2001.
Cam was awarded the Kovalevskaia Prize in 1995, the Labor Order, and numerous medals and certificates of merit for her contributions to education, science and technology, women’s advancement, and child protection.
