COVID-19: Vietnam confirms 189 new cases, tally surpasses 17,000 mark

(VOVWORLD) - 189 people have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in five localities across Vietnam during the past 12 hours, raising its national cumulative caseload to 17,052, said the Ministry of Health at 6 am on Thursday.

Ho Chi Minh City again reported the majority of cases with 158 cases.

Most of the new cases were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas, and only one case was of unknown origin.

As of 6 m on Thursday Vietnam confirmed a total of 17,052 cases. The virus has been kept in check in the north, but it is spreading rapidly in southern and central regions.

To date 6,840 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery of the diseases.

Nearly 3.8 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered nationwide.
