Cross-border passenger train adds momentum to Vietnam-China relations
(VOVWORLD) - Transportation connectivity has brought more opportunities for the people of China and Vietnam, wrote china.com.cn, a news outlet under the State Council of the People's Republic of China, in an article discussing the China-Vietnam cross-border passenger train, which resumed operation last week after a five-year suspension.
The train departs daily from Nanning in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the evening and arrives in Hanoi the following morning. Total travel time is less than 12 hours, making it a cost-effective and time-saving solution for passengers, according to the article.
In addition, new technology on Vietnam’s side of the railway allows the train to overcome Vietnam and China’s differing track gauges for seamless connectivity, without the need to change trains at the border.
The Nanning-Hanoi train helps facilitate cultural exchanges between Vietnam and China, towards a new chapter in the two countries’ friendship, ahead of the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange, according to the article.
