Cyber space national sovereignty protection matters

(VOVWORLD) - The protection of national sovereignty in cyber space is as important as physical national sovereignty protection, said a senior Party official on Wednesday.

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communications and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia delivered remarks at a workshop on cyber space national sovereignty protection on Wednesday in Hanoi.

“Given unpredictable ever changing world situation and Covid-19 pandemic context, massive impact could be seen in economic, social, national defense, security, foreign affairs and life of people in many countries including Vietnam. Non-conventional security issues, including cyber security and protection of national sovereignty in cyber space does matters, especially in countering wrongful views and hostile forces for the building and protection of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” Mr. Nghia said.

Associate Professor Doctor Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Chief of the Central Theoretical Council, called for clear and unified delineation of authorities in state management of cyber security.

“Capacity building for cyber space security for ministries and provinces, key infrastructure projects linked with economic groups must be accelerated. Lessons and experiences from countries must be researched. A set of indicators on cyber space management in line with international practices must be developed with a task force for actively responding cyber threats,” Mr. Thanh said.
