AIPA-42: Vietnam proposes measures to ensure cyber security, fight COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Strengthening cyber security and protecting data toward a self-reliant cyber space in ASEAN was high on the agenda of the 42nd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-42) on Tuesday.

At the discussion of the Political Committee, the Vietnamese delegation highlighted Vietnamese law on cyber security which protects privacy in cyber space. They introduced Vietnam’s national digital transformation program until 2025, Vision to 2030, determination to develop e-government, and respect for international cooperation on cyber security within ASEAN.

Nguyen Minh Duc of the Vietnamese delegation said, 'Vietnam proposes to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation, increase exchanges in fine-tuning institutions, overseas legislation enforcement in technology and cyber security, share cyber security threats and technical measures to fight COVID-19. It’s also important to maintain international cooperation and consensus in perception and action of the ASEAN Community in regard to cyber security and regional cooperation frameworks to ensure cyber security.'

Vietnam also proposed that AIPA members share information and experience to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and find solutions to recover post-pandemic.
