Deputy PM Dung said gaps in the development of transportation infrastructure and urban infrastructure hinder Vietnam’s sustainable development. He said he hopes the participants will discuss ways to improve socio-economic and environmental efficiency to boost smart transportation solutions by integrating an effective traffic management system and public-private partnerships. Mr. Dung said: "Asia is home to large economies and has great potential to develop policies and investment in transportation. The forum allows policy makers and sponsors to discuss ways to enhance a sustainable transportation infrastructure system. I support the issuance of the Hanoi Declaration to realize smart cities in Asia."

The forum includes sessions on policies for a sustainable transportation infrastructure system, decreasing air pollution in urban areas, and upgrading transportation services and infrastructure. Participants also discussed ways Asia can contribute to the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development.
