Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, who is head of the Advisory Council on Amnesty 2021, told the event that the amnesty demonstrates the Party and State’s fair and transparent policy towards the inmates who have been granted amnesty. The President's special amnesty decision grants inmates the same opportunity, regardless of gender, religion, nationality, age, and occupation as long as they are eligible in accordance with the law, Mr. Minh said.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he believes that through studying, working, and progressing in the prison, those who are granted amnesty this time will be stable in life.
“I believe that you will overcome obstacles and will be more confident in life to truly become honest persons. For prisoners who have not yet been eligible for amnesty this time, I hope that everyone will try harder to strictly abide by the law and prison rules, actively study, work, and improve yourself to soon be eligible for the leniency of the Party and State.”
The Deputy Prime Minister called on the prison wardens to coordinate with local Party committees and administrations and mass organizations to create favorable conditions for the pardoned prisoners to overcome the feeling of guilt and quickly reintegrate into the community.
More than 3,000 inmates will be released on the occasion Vietnam’s National Day, September 2, under a special amnesty decision signed by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
