(VOVWORLD) - The EU on Tuesday approved EasyJet's plans to buy certain Air Berlin operations at Tegel airport in Germany.

The deal will not reduce competition or benefits to consumers, said EU Commissioner for competition policy Margrethe Vestager.
Air Berlin declared bankruptcy in August after its main stakeholder, Etihad Airways, pulled out. The German government gave Air Berlin a 175-million-USD bridge loan while it negotiates the sale of its assets.
