EU, Iran agree on agenda for next nuclear talks

The EU and Iran have agreed on the agenda for their forthcoming nuclear talks. During a telephone conversation on Monday, Foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Iran’s chief negotiator Saeed Jalili agreed on the need for Iran to engage in discussions on the proposals to address concerns on the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme,".

Earlier on Monday, Ashton met senior officials from the P5+1 on the sidelines of a session at the European Parliament "to prepare the ground for the negotiations in Moscow" next Monday and Tuesday. The Moscow talks follow two earlier unproductive meetings held since early April, in Istanbul and in Baghdad which failed to curb Tehran's nuclear activities. Ali Bagheri, Iran’s deputy chief negotiator Jalili, also complained that preparatory groundwork by specialist from both parties was also needed before the talks get underway.
