EU military aid for Ukraine reaches 27 billion euros

(VOVWORLD) - The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said Monday that the EU arms supply to Ukraine has reached 27 billion euros (about 28.8 billion USD), a record high figure in the EU's history.

Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the EU and its members have allocated 89 billion dollars in financial, military, humanitarian, and refugee assistance for Ukraine.

On Monday, Ukraine's New voixe newspaper reported that German Ambassador in Kiev Martin Jaeger confirmed Germany’s commitment to deliver two additional IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine by year’s end. The German Ministry of Defense announced in October preparations for a second winter military assistance package for Ukraine, worth  one billion euros. The package will include additional Patriot and IRIS-T air defense systems.

Russia has issued a diplomatic note to NATO countries regarding the provision of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any shipment containing weapons bound for Ukraine would be deemed a legitimate target for Russia.
