Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari said art is the manifestation of the beauty of the creation of God and mankind as well as the language of friendship and the connection of nations.
“We believe it’s a way to introduce a culture and civilization through artifacts that are apparently inanimate…but artistic artifacts are always alive and talking and sharing stories with mankind, even in silence. So, by holding an exhibition we are offering a bit of Iran's rich culture and civilization to our Vietnamese friends,” said the Ambassador.
The exhibit will be divided into two sections. In the photo gallery, exhibit goers will see a motif of lotus flowers at the Persepolis Palace Complex, which was begun under the orders of Darius the Great in 518 BC and was completed during the reign of Emperor Xerxes I from 550 to 486 BC. There will also be calligraphy and photos and miniature paintings by Mahmoud Farshchian, a contemporary master of Persian art.
In the second section, 100 handicrafts will be displayed, representing a variety of Iranian art forms. These include Ghalam Zani engraving, Minakari enameling on metal, Qali bafi carpet weaving, Khatam-kari inlays, and Firouze-kubi turquoise inlays.
Also in this section will be Qalamkari printing on cotton or silk fabric using a tamarind pen and natural dyes, Sermeh-doozi embroidery, Termeh-bafi hand weaving, Mes-o-pardaz painting on copper, and Persian calligraphy.
The exhibit, jointly organized by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam and the Hanoi Museum, will run through September 8.
