‘Festival of India’ begins in Vietnam

(VOVworld) – A Festival of India opened in Hanoi on Wednesday, evidence of the lively cultural exchange between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said at the opening ceremony that the event will enhance their friendship cooperation and strategic partnership. India’s Deputy Minister of Culture Ravindra Singh said India considers Vietnam a pillar of its “Look East Policy”.
India plans to establish an Indian culture center in Vietnam this year to promote Indian culture and improve the bilateral friendship. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Preeti Saran said that this festival will allow the Vietnamese audience to enjoy various types of Indian traditional arts representing the diversity of India’s culture.
Many of the arts - songs and dances - have been recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritages. The festival, which will conclude next Saturday, is being held in Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
