Ngo Van Ich, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, told a conference on Saturday that this year the sector expects more opportunities to regain its growth rate.

Tra fish has affirmed its foothold in major markets and can maintain its export revenue in 2018, Ich added.

Shrimp exports have seen positive signs as the US’s anti-dumping tax on basa fish during the 12th administrative review period (POR 12) was lower than that of POR 11. The CPTPP has come into force since the beginning of this year, which will bring import tariffs on almost all products among CPTPP members to zero, said Ich.

Truong Dinh Hoe, VASEP Secretary General, said the fishery sector needs to develop an appropriate production plan, update processing technology, and enhance export to demanding markets such as Japan, the EU, and Australia.
