(VOVworld) – Various activities were held in Asian and European countries over the last few days to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).

Speaking at an event in Laos on Monday, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung said the Vietnamese force is further developed to firmly safeguard national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while integrating into the international community and increasing cooperation with armies around the world, especially with the Lao People’s Army.

Hung expressed his gratitude to the Lao nation and people for supporting Vietnam in its national liberation, construction, and defense.

At a similar ceremony in Phnom Penh the same day, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du reviewed the formation and development of the VPA for the past 70 years. He thanked the Cambodian people and army for their support since the army’s formation.

Ukrainian officials and war veterans praised the heroic tradition of the army while attending a ceremony Monday marking the army’s 70th founding anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the People’s National Defense Festival.

On Sunday, the Vietnamese community in Germany marked the Vietnamese armed force’s founding.
