(VOVworld) - French President Francois Hollande on Thursday confirmed that a national guard would be formed from existing reserve forces to better protect citizens facing terror attacks.

Hollande said parliamentary consultations on the formation of the force would take place in September so that the force can be created as fast as possible. The state of emergency was extended until next January, following 2 recent terrorist attacks, including a truck attack in Nice.
In another development, President Hollande on Thursday confirmed that “France will always be France”, a response to US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who tweeted that France is no longer France after recent terror attacks.
