French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said France strongly hopes that the US Congress, which is now responsible for a possible rupture, does not jeopardise the deal. He added that if they denounce the deal that has been respected, it will set a dangerous precedent, particularly in the context of negotiations with North Korea. He said this coherent deal limits nuclear proliferation and prevents Iran from acquiring atomic weapons. However Le Drian left the door open to further talks on what happens after a deadline in 2025, when certain limits on Iran's uranium enrichment are set to expire.

Russia warned that the US’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal will prompt more instability in the region and globally. The German government vowed to work for continued global unity if the US announces that it will not certify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear accord as expected.
