On behalf of the government, he thanked leaders of parties and unions who have been calling for peace this week. He said it’s time for dialogues, starting from discussions in the Lower House and Parliament, to meetings with representatives of the "yellow vest" movement. No kind of tax can threaten national unity, he added.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said 125,000 "yellow vest" protesters had turned out to demonstrate around France on Saturday, 10,000 of whom were in Paris. Police detained more than 1,300 of them. 126 people were injured and hospitalized.
