Georgia election’s preliminary results announced

(VOVworld) – The ruling party in Georgia, Georgian Dream party decisively won parliamentary elections with 48.61 percent of the vote.

According to the near-complete results from the Central Election Commission on Sunday, with 99.41 percent of the votes in, the ruling Georgian Dream party won 48.61 percent of the vote and the opposition United National Movement won 27.04 percent. 
Speaking in the capital of Tbilisi, Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili said the party won the election thanks to its consistence in policies of economic development and human rights protection and strong innovations since 2012.

Georgia’s government has requested for tight security and plans to use appropriate measures to ensure national law and orders. In 2012, Georgian Dream became the ruling party after defeating the United National Movement with 55% of the votes in the Parliament election.
