Chairing the Government’s monthly meeting for July in Hanoi on Thursday, Prime Minister Phuc said it is necessary to precisely assess issues and shortcomings facing each sector to address them and achieve 2017’s targets. PM Phuc noted a positive trend in the socio-economic situation in July and the first seven months of 2017, saying that inflation continued to be controlled, credit grew well, while export and import revenue increased by almost 19 percent. Around 73,000 new businesses were established and more than 17,000 others resumed operations between January and July. Phuc asked cabinet members to take action to realize the growth target of 6.7% and increase social investment capital to 34-35% of GDP: “We do not focus on quantity but we need to fulfill our set targets. We need to strictly implement mechanisms and policies of the government and take more drastic measures.”
The same day, cabinet members discussed the draft law on cyber security, revisions to the Law on Physical Training and Sports, and the 2025project on press development and management.
