Hanoi exhibition chronicles 80 years of Vietnam National Assembly

(VOVWORLD) -An exhibition entitled “80 Years of the Vietnamese National Assembly side by side the nation” will open on Tuesday at the National Assembly Building in Hanoi, as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first General Election.

On January 6, 1946, responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call, Vietnamese people aged 18 and above from all over the country, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or social class, enthusiastically participated in the first general election to elect the National Assembly.
The general election success was a glorious milestone in the nation's history, opening a new period of development for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The exhibition vividly recreates the 80-year journey of the legislature’s formation and development through images, documents, and artifacts arranged according to historical progress, from the Tan Trao National Congress - the predecessor of the Vietnamese National Assembly - to the National Assembly now.
It underlines the comprehensive maturation of the Assembly, which is becoming more professional, democratic, transparent, and effective and serves as a solid bridge between the Party, State, and people.
