The two sides shared their experience in urban management, particularly in environmental protection and cultural relic preservation. Mayor Alder welcomed the working visit by the Hanoi delegation and voiced her interest in tightening bonds between the two cities amidst the countries’ preparations to celebrate the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year. During an earlier tour of the capital city of Bern, Hanoi officials met with Bern’s mayor and learned about the city’s policies on heritage value preservation and promotion. The two sides introduced their city’s socio-economic situation and the organization, function, and operation of publically-elected agencies. The Swiss officials hoped for flourishing relations between Hanoi, Geneva and Bern. During their visit, the Hanoi delegation attended the celebration of Vietnam’s 70th National Day and the inauguration of the new headquarters of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and other international bodies in Geneva.
