They included 34 imported cases and 16,914 locally-transmitted cases in 63 cities and provinces. Hanoi reported 2,045 cases.

So far, Vietnam has recorded 1,763,040 COVID-19 infections.

Also on Sunday, 14,420 COVID-19 patients fully recovered bringing the total recoveries to 1,372,696. The same day, 221 people died of COVID-19.

By January 1, 2022, Vietnam has administered 152.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine. 99.5% of Vietnamese people over 18 had one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 90.7% of them were fully vaccinated.
