Hanoi’s lotus cultural space highlights timeless epic poem “The Tale of Kieu”
(VOVWORLD) - The Temple of Literature in Hanoi is hosting an exhibition featuring 32 works of calligraphy, most of which showcase exquisite verses from “The Tale of Kieu” by great poet Nguyen Du, particularly those that mention or evoke the lotus flower as a subtle metaphor.

The “Lotus and Kieu Cultural Space” exhibition also presents ao dai (traditional long dress) collections deeply inspired by the lotus. Designer Lan Huong introduced her collection titled “Hanoi lotus hues”:
“My designs tell the story of Kieu from Nguyen Du’s epic. They portray her youthful beauty in full bloom, her soul drifting among lotus blossoms. With her lute, Kieu plays melodies that celebrate life and the beauty of love beneath the moonlight.”
The space also showcases a portrait of Nguyen Du crafted from dried lotus leaves and handcrafted items inspired by the lotus motif. The exhibition runs until Sunday.
