The revisions to the Law on Health Insurance aim to promote universal health insurance in alignment with socio-economic conditions and make it compatible with international treaties of which Vietnam is a member.

Le Minh Nam, a National Assembly deputy for Hau Giang province, said: “The group of people eligible to receive State insurance support should be people of households with an average living standard. In fact there are many rural households with difficult circumstances but do not have agricultural land to do farm work and have to work for hire. They are not considered households with an average living standard and not eligible for health insurance support. The amendment will better implement social security policies, especially for disadvantaged groups in society.”

National Assembly deputy of Dak Lak province, Phuc Binh Nie Kdam, talks about the importance of the draft Law on Data: “It’s necessary to establish the National Data Center to manage, synchronize, and share data and information technology infrastructure, save resources, and invest in digital transformation. However, we should review and clarify the organizational structure of the National Data Center. The concentration of a large amount of data at the National Data Center also poses a risk of information leakage and information insecurity. I propose to have additional reports of plans and solutions to respond to possible problems.”

Also on Thursday, the National Assembly deputies discussed the draft revised Law on Trade Unions. The draft amendment has added the right of foreign workers to join Vietnamese trade unions at their businesses in Vietnam. It recognizes Vietnam's international commitments on labor and trade unions and ensures the consistency and unity of the current legal system, especially the Labor Code.
