(VOVWORLD) - An art performance called “The affectionate city – connecting love”, scheduled for next Thursday in Ho Chi Minh city, hopes to raise 1.7 million USD for poor people, the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front said at a Tuesday press conference.

Ms. Trieu Le Khanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: “The program has already collected nearly 1.3 million USD. We are encouraging officials to donate one day’s salary to the fund. This year’s performance will be attended by many talented artists to attract more donors.”
The “For the poor” fund will provide poor people in Ho Chi Minh city with production equipment, job training, charity houses, and gifts for a happy Lunar New Year.
