Tran Thi Ngoc Lien, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 Branch, said the figure represented an increase of 10.5% compared to 2024. “It is projected that remittances will also increase in 2026. The city is working on solutions and proposals to mobilize capital for projects that have been, are being, and will be implemented, such as the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City, free trade zones, real estate projects, and projects across various sectors and industries that require large amounts of capital,” said Ms. Lien.
In the first nine months of 2025, remittances to Ho Chi Minh City reached 7.94 billion USD, up 6.3% year-on-year, keeping it the country’s largest recipient, consistently accounting for about 60% of the national total. By region, as of late September, Asia continued to be the largest source of remittances to the city, making up over half of total inflows.

This strong growth reflects overseas Vietnamese’s increasing confidence in Vietnam’s economic stability, as well as the effectiveness of flexible exchange rate policies and a stable interest rate environment, Ms. Lien said.
