The ceremony was held in “The Mieu” and “Trieu Mieu”, two ancestral temples of Vietnamese emperors. A tolling of bells and drum beats kickstarted the Neu pole erecting ceremony, which was held in accordance with traditional rituals in a sacred atmosphere reminiscent of the Nguyen Dynasty’s golden era.

Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung said, "This is a chance to showcase the beauty of our traditions, and for everyone to join in the vibrant atmosphere. Even tourists are wearing áo dài. We wish to demonstrate the elegance of Hue, from intricate royal patterns and motifs in our designs, to the pastimes of the former imperial court."

The ceremony was followed by “Hue’s Tet Flavor”, a program that recreated many of the Lunar New Year’s traditions, including wrapping sticky rice cakes, making candied gingers, and playing royal court games.
