Hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese workers sent to work abroad

(VOVWORLD) -Hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese workers have been sent abroad to work in more than 40 countries and territories over the past decades, generating an income source for family economy and social development in Vietnam and recipient countries.

Head of International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Luu Quang Tuan said that more foreigners have come to Vietnam to work as well.

At Wednesday's workshop on prioritized international cooperation in labor and society in the period of 2022-2030, Tuan said the Ministry has cooperative relations with 180 international partners, including 20 UN organizations. International cooperation in labor and social affairs have brought about technical and financial support in institutional building and law enforcement for better social welfare. 

“Despite Covid-19 pandemic impact over the past 2 years, the Ministry has received and implemented some 60 ODA funded and non-governmental organization sponsored projects," Tuan added. 

International partners, including the International Labor Organization, GIZ and JICA have committed to support Vietnam in labor and social welfare in the time to come.
