Indian and Chinese leaders agree to boost bilateral ties
(VOVWORLD) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, their first formal meeting in five years, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan.

According to India's Ministry of External Affairs, the two welcomed an agreement to disengage troops and resolve issues stemming from the 2020 border conflict between India and China. Prime Minister Modi stressed the need to manage differences and ensure that disputes don’t disrupt the peace.
The last previous meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi took place in October 2019 at a summit in the Indian town of Mamallapuram, shortly before the June 2020 clashes in Galwan which escalated into the current military standoff.
