The move came during peace talks in Doha, Qatar, involving an Israeli delegation, US President-elect Donald Trump's incoming Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

An Israeli official said the talks took place positively with Israel making concessions and awaiting Hamas' response. If both sides agree, the deal could be finalized within days.

The same day, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that the country is working hard to reach an agreement with the Hamas on a ceasefire and a hostage exchange.

Also on Monday, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said that Norway will host an international conference on Wednesday to discuss solutions to promote the "two-state" initiative for the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
