Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Muddasir Tipu returned to Pakistan last week after Tehran’s surprise airstrikes in Balochistan claiming to target a terrorist group on January 16. Meanwhile Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam, who had already left for Iran, was denied reentry to Pakistan.

The neighbors subsequently halted their diplomatic relations but have since attempted to mend ties. In addition to allowing the ambassadors to resume their duties, the two sides have also agreed on a visit to Pakistan by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian next Monday.
