Israel continues its airstrikes in Gaza
(VOVworld) – Tension in the Gaza Strip is escalating with more Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas military bases. According to Hamas's military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, Israel’s airstrikes killed at least 7 Hamas gunmen early on Monday and injured other civilians in Gaza's southern-most town of Rafah, on the Egyptian border.
Israeli military authorities confirmed the strikes, saying they "responded to rocket attacks against southern Israel," on Sunday, targeting 9 "terror" sites and concealed rocket launchers. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to his cabinet on Sunday "to do whatever is necessary" to restore quiet to southern Israeli communities. He also warned Hamas not to increase their activities targeting Israeli territory.
