Israel intensifies Gaza offensive

(VOVWORLD) - Israeli forces have intensified attacks across Gaza, killing more than 40 people, injuring 300 others, and destroying numerous buildings, Gaza's civil defence agency said Monday.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported 6 additional deaths from starvation, bringing the total number of hunger-related fatalities in Gaza since the start of the conflict to 393.

Several Arab sources said Monday that the ceasefire and hostage deal framework recently proposed by US special envoy Steve Witkoff is unlikely to succeed. A senior Hamas official noted that the proposal failed to include a clear and firm commitment that Israel will not resume military operations in Gaza once the ceasefire expires.

Syrian media reported Israeli strikes in Syria on Monday in the vicinity of Homs city, the coastal city of Latakia, and the historic city of Palmyra. The reports did not specify the scope or impact of the strikes.

Lebanese sources on Monday accused the Israeli air force of carrying out at least 8 raids in the Hermel mountain region and the Bekaa Valley that left 5 people dead and 5 others wounded.

In response to the deadly shooting attack at a bus stop in Jerusalem on Monday that left at least 6 people dead and dozens injured, the European Union, the US, France, and the UAE called for an end to the violence and a political solution toward peace and stability in the region.
