(VOVWORLD) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Tuesday that the country’s air force carried out a strike on Doha, targeting Hamas officials. The Israeli Prime Minister's office emphasized that Israel initiated, executed, and took full responsibility for the attack.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation, code-named “Summit of Fire”, specifically targeted Hamas leaders based in Qatar.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the strike as a grave violation of its sovereignty. Spokesperson Majed Al Ansari denounced the attack as a crime and a flagrant breach of international law, warning it endangered the security and safety of Qatar and its citizens. He stressed that Qatar would not tolerate Israel’s aggressive actions.
The Palestinian Authority and several regional countries also condemned the attack, calling it a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
