14 children and 9 women were killed in the strike. The Israeli military said it assessed that there were 20-30 fighters located in the UN school.

The same day, Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that Antonio Guterres condemned Israel's attack and said Israel must be held responsible for what has happened in Gaza.

Dujarric said UN facilities are inviolable, even in armed conflict, and must be protected by all parties. The US called on Israel to be transparent about the attack, including verifying whether or not children were killed.

On social network X, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union, said reports from Gaza indicate that hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians are still suffering every day. He called for an independent investigation into the Israeli airstrike.

The US, the UK, Canada, Germany, and several other countries issued a joint statement calling on Israel and Hamas to accept the proposal US President Joe Biden made on May 31 for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

The joint statement was signed by Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Denmark, France, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, and Thailand, according to the White House.
